I’m very embarrassed about having this infestation, so I’ll go by the name of EatenAlive and this is my nightmare after moving into a town home!
We moved into a town home on the west side of Columbus only to discover roaches. Pest control was sent out once by the management, they didn’t even do a full spray job and only impacted our roach sitings for about two days. we started spending our own money to treat the problem we moved into and about 2 months in our neighbors (4 adults 5 kids) living in the 3 bedroom next door moved out.
The roaches exploded and i started getting little bumps on my hands. i figured an allergic reaction to a soap or lotion or perfume. After all we were clean and even bagged our brand new mattress with two different bags to keep it nice longer and because we are aware of the problems of bed bugs in Franklin County. By my reasoning it couldn’t be bed bugs.
It was another month before i saw our second pest invaders. i recognized them because I’d seen them on the news before and a quick search on the web confirmed. My bumps spread and worsened they itched worse than poison ivy. my ankles and top of my feet are raw like a scrapped kids knee and the few places a bite has healed I’m left with defined scaring that looks like it will take years to fade away.
My chest upper back lower back arms and ankles have become so eaten up i am speckled with wounds some torn open like bad scrapes and pock holes or irritated wounds only on my thighs and stomach can i even find un-marked skin for a square inch of skin.
We have soaked things in alcohol, we have used hot shots, we have used raid sprays and now also Harris bedbug killer. we haven’t seen tons of them but no matter how much we wash vacuum and spray everything we cant get rid of either pest issue.
I work at a place where two different people were fired immediately because of having either bed bug bites, or even mentioning wondering if they could have because they got a bite. I am left wearing long sleeves and long pants in 90 degree weather.
If i dare to wear short sleeves out to shop i sometimes get looks from clerks or customers like how dare i go out in public. My mind is disgusted with these strangers. I put my clothes through a long dryer ride before wearing knowing the heat gets hot enough to kill them. Others in my home hardly or don’t get bitten..something about my skin seems to draw them God help me.
We are now going to use an assortment of bug bombs throughout the house after treating the rooms for hundredth time and re-cleaning all surfaces.
I itch nearly every inch of me, and the clothes i wear to hide myself make me suffer daily. I also cant seem to stop scratching at healing ones. I am using an arsenal of lanacane bug itch antibacterial, neosporin, afterbite, and cortizone quick shot to just attempt to let myself heal. this battle is one of chemicals and mental anguish and physical hell.
I share this, for any others loosing their minds to the battle!
- For those suffering sleepless nights
- Making 100 ‘last check’ of blankets
- For those who don’t have them or think you might be getting them
Clean people can easily get these. If you even suspect..it’s worth all efforts to treat and wash everything.
Neighbors 3 doors down tell us they complained about them 2 months ago in one of their rooms (same time we were discovering them), and nothing was done. they had to plastic the room off completely. we have continuously complained to the office. It seems that almost all west side complexes have a problem somewhere.
Please let spray and bombs work this time.
