Big Win for Tenant of Infestation

Back in 2013, Faika Shaaban was awarded $800,000 in her lawsuit against West Street Partnership, Et Al after moving into an apartment she claims was infested with bed bugs.

This 69 year old lady also claimed that the landlord had been notified of the potential infestation shortly before she moved into the unit.

Faika states that when she complained about about the infestation, she was evicted and her possessions placed out on the street.

Apartment renter awarded $800,000 in bed bug lawsuit

The jury was not happy with the landlord and decided to award $650,000 in punitive damages! The total verdict was for $800,000, just $200,000 shy of a million dollars! Wow!

Note: the attorney who handled this lawsuit was Daniel Whitney and the case was argued in Anne Arundel County, and this article was based on the information provided on Whitney’s Law Firm, Huffington Post’s article on the outcome of that lawsuit, and Maryland Judiciary.
